CoolSculpting at Central Park Beauty

Central Park Beauty is a leading CoolSculpting Certified Practice in New York City.

For both men and women, fat in some areas are resistant to exercise and eating healthily – lower abdomen, love handles, and double chin. Additionally, women encounter stubborn fat in the inner and outer thighs, below the buttocks, upper arms, and bra fat.

Most nonsurgical fat reduction treatments rely on one of these four principles:

  1. Cryolipolysis, or controlled cooling of fat cells.
  2. Laser lipolysis uses controlled heating of fat cells.
  3. Radiofrequency lipolysis uses controlled heating of fat cells.
  4. Injection lipolysis uses injectable deoxycholic acid to target fat cells.

CoolSculpting targets fat cells, eliminating them using a non-invasive technique that exercise and diet cannot readily achieve as quickly or as effectively. Coolsculpting also avoids the need for anesthesia and downtime associated with surgical procedures, such as liposuction.

CoolSculpting®, also known as cryolipolysis, is a popular, cutting-edge body contouring technique that targets fat cells with controlled cooling. The treatment reduces fat cell volume by freezing without damaging other tissues. CoolSculpting involves the application of cooling within the temperature range of +5 to -11 °C for the non-invasive, localized reduction of fat deposits, intending to reshape body contours gently.

Curved or flat cooling plates are applied to the skin overlying the treatment area. The applicator then delivers cooling to the fat cells down to a temperature causing subtle but irreversible cellular damage – known as “apoptosis”. In the months following treatment, the affected fat cells condense, reducing the thickness of the adipose (fat) layer.

CoolSculpting can address nearly any unwanted fat bulge – CoolSculpting is FDA-cleared for treatment of areas including:

  1. abdomen
  2. flanks (love handles)
  3. inner and outer thighs
  4. upper arms, bra fat, back fat
  5. “banana roll” (upper thighs underneath your butt)
  6. knees
  7. double chin

CoolSculpting is suitable for all skin types.

The scientific principles of the cryolipolysis procedure were initially identified by dermatologists Dieter Manstein, MD, Ph.D. and R. Rox Anderson, MD, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. They observed some children who ate popsicles had developed dimples in their cheeks. The cold from the popsicles was freezing and eliminating pockets of fat cells. They concluded that cold could target fat cells—without damaging the skin or surrounding tissue.

CoolSculpting is suitable for those who want to eliminate unwanted fat in targeted areas. Unlike weight-loss surgery, the CoolSculpting procedure is not a weight-loss solution.

Good candidates for CoolSculpting have noticeable bulges in certain areas they would like to get rid of. You may have an area(s) that are resistant to diet and exercise. You may want a non-surgical, non-invasive alternative to liposuction. Perhaps you have an event in the upcoming months, and you want to look amazing!

CoolSculpting is a safe and effective treatment for reducing body fat in most people. However, some people should not receive this treatment. People with the following conditions should not do CoolSculpting:

  1. cryoglobulinemia
  2. cold agglutinin disease
  3. paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria

It’s also important to note that CoolSculpting is not a treatment for obesity. Instead, CoolSculpting eliminates small amounts of excess fat that doesn’t quickly go away with diet and exercise alone.

The best way to determine whether you are a candidate for CoolSculpting is to book your complimentary consultation!

The price for CoolSculpting® at Central Park Beauty depends on you! When you come to visit for a free consultation, you will meet with one of our CoolSculpting® specialists and discuss everything from how the treatment works to what to expect. We will consider your areas of concern and develop a personalized treatment plan.

CoolSculpting price varies depending on the size and locations of your areas of concern, the number of treatments needed, and your ultimate goals. Most patients opt to receive treatments in multiple body areas to achieve their goals. Price is affected by the size and number of treatment applicators used.

Unfortunately, insurance does not cover CoolSculpting. During your consultation appointment, ask about our financing payment options, as well as any CoolSculpting® specials we may be running at that time!

A standard set of high-quality “before” photos are taken in multiple projections. The treatment areas are marked, and the skin is cleaned with an alcohol pad. A gel pad and applicator are then applied to the treatment area. After the applicator vacuum is activated, the applicator is secured, and cooling begins. Cooling during a CoolSculpting cycle is delivered via a computer-controlled applicator.

During a CoolSculpting treatment, you initially experience a sensation of pulling as the treated area is drawn into the treatment applicator. You will then feel an intense cold followed by numbness after approximately 5 minutes.

The duration of your CoolSculpting appointment will vary depending on the total number of treatment areas during your visit. CoolSculpting treatment cycles can be 35 minutes (CoolAdvantage), 45 minutes (CoolAdvantage PLUS and CoolMINI), or 75 minutes (CoolSmooth PRO for outer thighs).

Many people read, check email, watch Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, teleconference, or even take a nap during their treatments.

At the end of the treatment cycle, the applicator is removed, and your CoolSculpting specialist will perform a 2-minute massage at the treatment area. Recent data revealed that massaging the affected area right after the CoolSculpting treatment improves fat reductions by 68% after the first two months and 44% after four months. As the numbness wears off, you may feel some stinging and aching for a few minutes at the treatment site.

You may experience transient redness, swelling, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching, or skin sensitivity. These effects are temporary and generally resolve within days or a few weeks. Though rare, some additional side effects can occur. As with any medical procedure, ask your specialist if the CoolSculpting procedure is right for you.

Resume regular physical activity right after your appointment. Since the CoolSculpting treatment is non-surgical, you can return to normal activities immediately. Patients frequently return to work on the same day after CoolSculpting is completed. You will experience numbness in the treatment areas for 1-3 weeks after treatment.

Over the next 3-4 months, your body will slowly metabolize frozen fat areas. These fat cells are naturally processed and eliminated so they won’t migrate to another area of your body. Outcomes vary. Additional CoolSculpting treatment cycles can be performed to increase results. You can use CoolSculpting in different regions of the body including stomach, thighs, arms, legs, and chin. If exercise and dieting do not work to reduce fat, you should freeze them.

A CoolSculpting treatment cycle reduces the total number of fat cells in the treated areas by up to 20%. Your remaining fat cells still function normally, being subject to getting bigger or smaller depending on weight gain or loss. With CoolSculpting, you can achieve natural-looking and long-lasting results.

A few months after treatment, your clothes will fit better, and you will look better. There are no pills or supplements required to achieve great results. If you maintain your regular diet and exercise routines, your long-term results should remain stable. Fat cells frozen by CoolSculpting do not return because the body eliminates them.

A follow-up appointment to evaluate results is definitely worthwhile. A second session can be performed 6-8 weeks after the initial treatment. Additional treatment may maximize the results because it allows you to get into deeper layers of fat tissue and have a faster fat reduction.
