Professional Treatments
The folds created when you smile, frown, or squint are known as dynamic wrinkles – they only appear as you make facial expressions. Over time, dynamic wrinkles become static wrinkles – the fine lines and/or wrinkles you see when your face is relaxed.

What Is Botox?
Facial wrinkles and fine lines can dramatically age your appearance. Frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines, may be the result of stress, diminishing eyesight, smiling, smoking, and sun damage. Botox in New York City consists of a purified protein, which is used to improve the look of moderate to severe wrinkles.
BOTOX Cosmetic® is widely recognized, and was the first neurotoxin to be approved for cosmetic use in the United States. Botox cosmetic is commonly called botulinum toxin type A. The effects of Botox were first studied in the 1960s. In 1989, the FDA gave clearance for Botox to treat muscle spasms. FDA clearance for cosmetic use was granted in 2002 and millions of patients have been treated since.
How does Botox work?
Botox is designed to block the nerve signals that tell the facial muscles to contract, as facial expressions are formed. When these muscles are prevented from contracting, the lines and folds are prevented from forming in the skin’s surface. A Botox treatment takes just a few minutes, with great results that last for up to four months.
Are there any people who should not receive Botox?
Botox injections should not be given to pregnant women, nursing mothers, or patients with neuromuscular diseases like myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s), or motor neuropathy. Patients who are allergic to human albumin (different than an egg allergy) should not use Botox.
Treatment areas for cosmetic results
Forehead lines
Horizontal lines occur across the forehead, as the result of aging and repeatedly raising the eyebrows. Botox can temporarily paralyze the muscles to relax the area and smooth these lines.
Botox Brow Lift
If eyebrows are drooping and hooding the eyes, a Botox injection can relax the muscles that are pulling the eyebrows down. This works to restore a younger looking arch to the forehead.
Glabellar Lines or The 11’s
Furrowing the eyebrows can lead to two vertical lines between the eyes. Botox is highly effective at muscle relaxation, which works to smooth the skin on this area.
Crow’s Feet
If you’ve developed prominent lines at the corners of the eyes due to squinting or smiling, Botox can work to relax the muscles and smooth their appearance.
Corners of the Mouth
A drooping of the mouth can make us look permanently sad or upset. Botox can relax the muscles that are pulling the mouth down.
Natural results
It’s a common misperception that Botox will give you a “frozen” look. However, at Central Park Beauty in New York City, we design Botox treatments based on your aesthetic goals. A natural look, never frozen.
Botox can be strategically placed to raise the outer part of the eyebrow that tends to drop with age. Botox is typically used to soften the wrinkles between the eyebrows, at the forehead, and the crow’s feet. Botox can soften the “orange peel” appearance of the chin and diminish prominent vertical neck lines.
How long do the effects of Botox last?
Most patients find that the effects of Botox injections last approximately 3-6 months. Most of my patients come 3-4 times the first year and then 2-3 times a year after that. After the muscles have been relaxed for a while, it takes less Botox to maintain that relaxation. But every patient is an individual, and there is no knowing exactly how you will respond.
A preventative treatment
Botox generates the best results when used as a preventative treatment versus a reactive treatment. Therefore, periodic treatment early in life with Botox can reduce the formation of severe lines as you age. Wrinkles caused by sun damage and gravity will not respond to Botox.
Quick & painless
Botox is widely known as the lunch-hour remedy because it takes approximately 10 minutes to perform. Botox requires little to no downtime, and slight bruising and redness can occur, but many patients say Botox feels like a small pinch. It is recommended to avoid strenuous exercise or laying flat for at least 4 hours.
Most patients have a noticeable improvement in facial wrinkles and a reduction of muscle movement within a few days following their procedure. Visible improvement of wrinkles lasts for three to six months.
Botox for teeth grinding and wide jawline
Botox injection into the masseter muscles is an option to treat teeth grinding. Botox injection partially relaxes the masseter muscles. The treated muscles eventually diminish in overall size. The reduction in size will also cause a reduction in the ability of the jaw to clench and teeth to grind. This procedure can also reduce the appearance of a wide jawline caused by masseter muscle enlargement. Botox is more than just for wrinkles!
